Case Study #1: PBS Coals Inc. mobilizes workers for better decisions and cost control in the volatile mining industry:
The Challenge:As the seventh-largest coal producer in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, PBS Coals realized that mobilization of its knowledge workers was crucial for real-time access to business-critical exploration, manufacturing, and sales information across mining operations.
The Solution: Since integration to back-end systems plus the flexibility of pre-packaged and custom iOS applications were must-haves, they selected the SAP Mobile App Development Platform. Now, workers with company iPhones and iPads have anytime, anywhere access to important payment, travel, quality, and analytics applications. The company also developed a custom app for purchase order approval used by all top management. Additionally, SAP Afaria securely manages application versions and device usage.

Case Study #2: Leading European airline improves passenger satisfaction with VeliQ mobile Platform as a Service
The Challenge: In a highly competitive, cost-conscious business that’s vulnerable to customer churn, a leading European airline wanted to improve its customer experience by giving gate agents real-time information on mobile devices and apps. The objective was to reduce frustration by keeping passengers informed. Security was crucial as apps would link to sensitive systems including departure control, and flight and passenger information.
