Forrester Predicts Top 5 Areas for AP Enterprise Mobility Investments in 2013

Forrester Predicts Top 5 Areas for AP Enterprise Mobility Investments in 2013

Forrester analyst Katyayan Gupta’s latest post (dated February 22, 2013) on his blog lists what he refers to as the “five key areas [that] will dominate enterprise mobility investments in Asia Pacific in 2013.”

According to Gupta, they are business consulting services, telecom expense management solutions, mobile device management solutions, packaged applications for mobile collaboration, and corporate app stores.

He also wrote that for organisations operating in Asia Pacific, “expanding mobility support for employees, customers and/or business partners will be the top strategic telecom priority for enterprises in 2013″ and that it will “[surpass] other telecom priorities [such as] performing network management and consolidating operations equipments, rationalising/consolidating telecom/communications service providers, and moving communications applications to the cloud.”

Gupta said that in the area of business consulting services, there should be substantial investments devoted to “defining a formal enterprise mobility and/or BVYOD program strategy, including devices, applications, data access and provisioning.”

Explaining why he considers the area of telecom expense management solutions will get a lot of attention in 2013, he said that in Asia Pacific, “50% to 60% of organisations pay the entire cost of voice and data services for company-supported Android and iOS phones and tablets” and 70 percent of organisations covered voice and data expenses for their company-supported BlackBerry phones.

In his blog post, Gupta cited essential findings from the report he just put out with Forrester, The Enterprise Mobility Outlook for Asia Pacific in 2013.
